H.O.P.E. CENTRAL

The first idea of having a place we could call our own in Nicaragua came from needing a warehouse. For our first building project in Los Lirios, we only owned a couple of shovels and a few hammers. Two people could carry our entire tool inventory. Actually, the whole team was made up of only eight people! All the cement was mixed on the ground. We didn’t own cement mixers.  We carried the cement in buckets, because we didn’t even own wheelbarrows.  After several more construction teams, we began to accrue additional tools and equipment, all made possible by our generous donors.
Having found ourselves with an actual inventory of tools and construction equipment, we genuinely needed a warehouse. For three years, we housed all our stuff in four different donated warehouses – from an abandoned grocery store to a warehouse behind a bank. The problem was the warehouses were free, that is until a paying tenant was secured. When a paying tenant came along, Project H.O.P.E. was out. That was a little exhausting, to say the least.
We realized we needed to own our own warehouse, maybe even something with electricity and a light bulb – Wow! So, in June of 2003 we began looking for a piece of property in the Managua area. We viewed many different places, but upon seeing the present location, we knew we had found the spot. The property already had a small warehouse and was shaded by a gigantic, beautiful, sprawling tree.
About the same time we found the property, we started analyzing the costs of hotels and food for teams. We also started thinking about a place to hold pastor trainings, which is and has always been the primary focus of Project H.O.P.E. We began to envision an office, training room, dining hall and dormitories. We thought the property could pay for itself, over a period of three years, if we did most of the labor with volunteers from the States. Thus, H.O.P.E. Central was born.
H.O.P.E. Central is more than a financial benefit. It gives us a place to have an office for our Staff. It allows us to be more accessible to the public. It provides an excellent opportunity to train pastors during three-day workshops. It is a home-away-from-home for our teams. Plus, we finally have that warehouse! God is so good! He provides so much more than we deserve. Praise God for H.O.P.E. Central. Our first team stayed at H.O.P.E. Central in January 2007.
Many of the team members are vested in H.O.P.E. Central, since it was paid for by donor dollars and built by volunteer hands.  H.O.P.E. Central is a place our team members can hang out, relax and fellowship with one another. It gives an opportunity to spend some quiet time reflecting on what God is doing in their lives.
We employ guards, cooks and housekeepers on a part-time, as needed basis. It has been a joy to be able to be a part of each of their lives. It has been a joy to give them financial and spiritual aid. They are part of the Project H.O.P.E. family.
You’ll find the accommodations far exceed your expectations. As a matter of fact, here are what some of our guests have to say:

“H.O.P.E. Central is an oasis – a respite – a haven! It is beautiful and every detail was greatly appreciated. The meals were unbelievable. The accommodations well planned. The grounds – beautiful!” (Dr. Teresa Olsen, January 2007 Medical Team)

“I can’t wait to tell my church family, who have been here on construction trips, about this facility. I have no complaints. The food was delicious. The grounds are beautiful. I’m so excited for Project H.O.P.E. to have this facility, and I know God will bless all that is done here in His name.” (Teresa Weathers, January 2007 Medical Team)

“H.O.P.E. Central is awesome with great Staff who loves the Lord and demonstrate it daily – sometimes hourly. “ (Bob Roberts, March 2007 Construction Team)

“This was an intense and beautiful experience for me. The accommodations at H.O.P.E. Central are wonderful. The staff is very gracious. The food is delicious and authentic. God has blessed my life through Project H.O.P.E. Thank you, and God bless this organization.” (MSU Student Hope Boyd, March 2007 Construction Team)
